How to Apply?

General Preparation Advice For Completion of Online Application Form
To cut down on your application time, you are advised to have the following documents ready:

  1. Education/Medical Qualification information
    • Basic Medical Degree
    • Postgraduate Medical/ Other Degree/ Fellowship
    • Medical Licensure
  2. Past/ Present Employment Information
  3. Clinical Posting History
  4. Information on other Residency/ Postgraduate appointments (between Houseman / Internship postings and the current position)
  5. Information of Professional Referees

NB: File size of documents to be uploaded must not exceed 1Mb per file.

For overseas Residents seeking attachment to Residency programmes, please enquire with SingHealth Residency at Residency@singhealth.com.sg.


Please send the following supporting document(s) to pgmi.fellowships@sgh.com.sg within 3 days from your online application submission date:

For Observers

  • Up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV), with complete clinical posting history (from rotating internship till current appointment)

For Clinical Fellows & Research Fellow

  • Up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV), with complete clinical posting history (from rotating internship till current appointment)
  • Summary showing numbers and types of operations/ cases during training period (supervised) and/or during independent practice in the past 2 years (in English language, certified true copy by your current Employing Institution), if any.
  • Two recent endorsed letters of recommendation including one from the Head of Institution/ Department of your current institution, supporting your application and indicating that you will undertake to complete the training programme and that you will return to work at the same institution upon completion of training if offered. The Head of Institution/ Department of your current institution should also indicate in writing that, where applicable, you have agreed to provide self-funding for your training at our training institution(s)/ centre(s).

Note: The letters should not be dated more than 1 year ago.

Should we not receive the above-mentioned supporting document(s) by the stipulated deadline, your application will automatically be withdrawn and you will have to re-apply should you be keen again.


Estimated Processing Schedule

For Observership applications and Research applications, the applications are reviewed on a monthly basis. You should receive notification on your application outcome within 2 to 3 months after application submission.
(e.g. Applications received between 01 January 2021 and 31 January 2021 would be reviewed in the following month - February 2021. The applicants should receive notification on the status of their applications  around March/April 2021).

For Clinical Fellowship applications, the applications are reviewed twice a year:

  • Applications received between 01 August and 31 January will be reviewed in February
  • Applications received between 01 February and 31 July will be reviewed in August

You should receive notification on your application outcome in April/ May for the review in February or October/ November for the review in August.

Upon provisional offer of traineeship, it takes approximately 6 to 9 months (for processing with the relevant authorities) before commencement of training.
