Chronic Kidney Disease- Mineral and Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD) is one of the main complications experienced by CKD patients. It refers to a complex systemic disorder arising from the dysregulation of calcium, phosphorus, intact parathyroid hormone and vitamin D levels. These mineral derangements can manifest as vascular or soft tissue calcification and abnormalities in bone turnover or growth.
This lecture explores the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of CKD-MBD. We will cover newer therapeutic options which have been used for treatment.
After the lecture, the participants will be able to gain an understanding on:
- General overview of CKD-MBD (including treatment targets, monitoring and complications)
