An Introduction to Music Therapy in Palliative Care

Music therapy is a non-pharmaceutical approach that can enhance the quality of life for terminally ill patients and their families. By examining its applications in symptom management and psycho-emotional support, this introductory lecture provides a deeper understanding of how music therapy can improve patient experiences in the acute hospital setting. 

At the end of this lecture, participants will gain an understanding on:

 

• What is music therapy

• Music therapy in palliative care

• Practical considerations for referrals to music therapy
