Activity engagement is an integral part of dementia care and offers benefits such as cognitive stimulation and aiding in the management of challenging behaviours in persons who have dementia with behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).

This session aims to introduce a framework for designing suitable activities for dementia patients.
 
At the end of this lecture, participants will gain an understanding on:
 
  • The importance of activity engagement in dementia care
  • A framework for activity prescription
  • The Pool Activity Level (PAL) to guide the selection and facilitation of suitable activities
