Presenting Title:

Lung Cancer Screening in Singapore: A Dedicated Clinical Service Delivery Model and Pathway Integration with Research

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, largely due to late-stage presentation. Low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening has been shown to reduce lung cancer mortality in high-risk populations, yet implementation within routine clinical practice presents logistical, operational, and governance challenges.

We established the first dedicated Lung Cancer Screening Clinic in Singapore to provide structured, guideline-based LDCT screening for individuals referred by primary care physicians and specialists as part of standard clinical care. The clinic centralises eligibility assessment, shared decision-making, risk stratification, imaging coordination, nodule management, smoking cessation support, and longitudinal follow-up within a streamlined pathway.

In parallel, the clinic serves as an operational platform as one of the centres for the SOLSTICE study, a prospective multicentre lung cancer screening research in Singapore. This dual clinical–research framework aims to optimise early detection, ensure quality assurance, and generate local evidence to inform national screening strategies. We describe the clinic’s design, operational processes, integration with research infrastructure, and early implementation experience as a scalable model for lung cancer screening delivery in Singapore.
