Dr. Buttgereit is associate professor of dermatology and allergology at the Institute of Allergology, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He studied human medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and performed his residency at Charité in the Department of Dermatology, Venerology and Allergology.

Since the beginning of his training, Dr. Buttgereit has learned from Prof. Marcus Maurer how to treat patients with various types of chronic urticaria, recurrent angioedema and Atopic Dermatitis. Over time, he specialized more and more in the field of urticaria and angioedema and served as an author and co-author for several peer-reviewed journal manuscripts about urticaria and angioedema including hereditary angioedema. In the last years, Dr. Buttgereit has been a speaker on the topics of urticaria, hereditary angioedema and atopic dermatitis at national and international conferences. More recently, he established the first global registry for all types of angioedema (CARE) in ACARE network. Furthermore, Dr. Buttgereit is hosting the ACARE All Things Angioedema Podcast where he regularly talks to experts about various topics related to angioedema and urticaria.

Dr. Buttgereit is head of the clinical trial division and angioedema program at the Institute of Allergology at Charité. He has been principal investigator for clinical trials on therapies for urticaria, angioedema, mastocytosis and prurigo

Uncover Urticaria: From Pathophysiology to Treatment
Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a chronic inflammatory disease that can profoundly impact patients’ quality of life through ongoing symptoms and unpredictability. Designed for healthcare professionals across multiple specialties, this practical, interdisciplinary session provides a clear and accessible framework for the recognition and management of CSU. The lecture will begin with a focused review of key clinical features and diagnostic considerations to support timely identification. This will be followed by a concise overview of current understanding of CSU pathophysiology, highlighting immune mechanisms involved. The session will conclude with a succinct, guideline‑based, stepwise approach to CSU treatment, equipping clinicians with pragmatic strategies applicable to everyday practice.
