Chronic pain is pain that has persisted for more than 3 months, with no identifiable cause to the pain or not responding to treatment or medications. Chronic and unrelieved pain is on the rise and can result in a multitude of negative effects such as reduced quality of life, emotional distress, general weakness and fatigue. Management of chronic non-cancer pain requires a trans-disciplinary bio-psycho-social approach.
