Diagnostic Radiology Overview

The department is organised into six imaging centres to provide an expeditious and efficient service:

General Imaging Centre located at Blk 2 Level 1

This is the main department and administrative hub of the department. The Centre offers general radiography and a range of specialised radiological procedures example mammography and ultrasound for outpatients. Operating hours are from 0800 to 1800 hours on weekdays and 0800 to 1300 hours on Saturdays.

The Centre also provides radiological services at the Outpatient Imaging Centre at block 7 level 1 and provides radiological support to the Urology Centre for theatre imaging and ESWL.

Advanced Imaging Centre located at Blk 2 Level 2

This is the specialised procedure which provides CT and MRI services. Operating hours are from 0800 to 2100 hours on weekdays and from 0800 hrs to 1700 hours on weekends and public holidays.

Urgent request for specialised examinations outside normal operating hours are handled by the radiologist and radiographer on duty. They are supported by a team of specialised radiologists, radiographers and nurses who are on-call and can be activated to come in at any hour.

To meet the demands  for CT and  MR services in SGH, the Centre also operates at Camden Medical Centre which is an extension of the existing radiological services, providing MRI, CT and plain x-ray imaging. The operating hours of SGH DDR @Camden are from  0830 to 1730 hours daily on  Monday to Friday and closed on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

Interventional Radiology Centre - Located at Blk 2 Level 2

This is a highly specialised procedure suite which provides vascular and interventional radiology services. Operating hours are from 0800 hrs to 2100 hrs on weekdays and from 0800 hrs to 1300 hours on Saturdays. The Centre also provides radiological support for the Pain Management Centre.

Urgent requests for vascular and interventional procedures outside normal operating hours are handled by the radiologist and radiographer on duty. They are supported by a team of specialised radiologists, radiographers and nurses who are on-call and can be activated to come in at any hour.

Inpatient Imaging Centre located at Blk 6 level 2

This Centre performs all the general radiography, computed tomography and ultrasound requests for inpatients and currently operates 24 hours daily including weekends and public holidays. It also provides round-the-clock operating theatre imaging services and mobile radiography and ultrasound services for those patients who are too ill to be transported to the centre for their examinations. The Centre also provides radiological support for the Endoscopy Centre.

Emergency Imaging Centre located at Block 1 Level 2

This centre provides round-the-clock general X-ray and CT service to support the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Satellite Imaging Centre

This centre provides radiological services outside the Hospital campus at sites in:

• Pasir Ris Polyclinic
• Tampines Polyclinic
• Bukit Merah Polyclinic
• Sengkang Polyclinic
• Queenstown Polyclinic
