The Department of Haematology provides both clinical and laboratory services for the diagnosis and treatment of all blood and blood related disorders.

The Department of Haematology provides both clinical and laboratory services for the diagnosis and treatment of all blood and blood related disorders. Clinical services include the following:

General Haematology

  • Nutritional and haemolytic anaemia
  • Auto-immune haematological disorders
  • Primary and secondary marrow failures
  • Problems arising from transfusion of blood
  • Blood products and haematological disorders associated with other systemic diseases

Coagulation

  • Managing bleeding disorders arising from platelet/clotting factor deficiency, congential or acquired
  • Diagnosis and management of thrombotic disorders

Haemato-Oncology

  • Management of patients with haematological malignancies
  • Provides routine and specialised haematological investigations

Bone Marrow Transplantation


Laboratory Services


Other interests of the department include:

  • Process and interpret all bone marrow studies
  • Undertake immunophenotypings, cytogenic work and specialised molecular studies in haematology

Coagulation Clinic

  • Referral criteria: Coagulation disorders
  • Clinic schedule: Every Tuesday and Thursday 2.00pm - 4.00pm

Haemato-Oncology Clinic

  • Referral criteria: Leukaemia and blood malignancy
  • Clinic schedule:
    Every Monday 10.00am - 1.00pm
    Every Wednesday 9.30am - 12 noon

    Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic

    • Referral criteria: Tertiary referral
    • Clinic schedule: Every Monday 10.30am - 12.30pm
