The Neuropsychology of Neurological Conditions

This course will explore the basic concepts of neuropsychology as well as the nature and features of Parkinson's disease, epilepsy and head trauma. These concepts include different cognitive domains, and dimensions of behaviour and function and will be related to neurological disorders in terms of evaluation and assessment. The different dimensions assessed include the physical, the functional, the emotional, the behavioural and the cognitive. An understanding of these conditions will enable healthcare workers to apply appropriate or better treatment strategies.

This course aims to enable participants to: 

  • Gain a basic understanding of the various dimensions in neuropsychology and various cognitive domains
  • Understand Parkinson’s disease and its neuropsychological features
  • Understand epilepsy and its neuropsychological feature
  • Understand head injury/traumatic brain injury and its neuropsychological features
