Patient-centered care (PCC) is an ill-defined concept although it is commonly considered a key component of developing high quality healthcare. Patient-centered practice includes the ability of healthcare professionals to value patient preferences in relation to their care. Despite professional expectations to deliver PCC, a biomedical and practitioner-centered perspective continues to dominate within many healthcare professions. In this CPD lecture based on her research and educational work, Prof Lesley Haig will present and explore different elements of PCC including:
