Patient-centered care (PCC) is an ill-defined concept although it is commonly considered a key component of developing high quality healthcare. Patient-centered practice includes the ability of healthcare professionals to value patient preferences in relation to their care. Despite professional expectations to deliver PCC, a biomedical and practitioner-centered perspective continues to dominate within many healthcare professions.
