Description

Indications

​Please note: 

Commencing 1 Oct 2024, the Immunology & Serology laboratory will cease to accept requests for the anti-Toxoplasma IgM antibody test without an accompanying anti-Toxoplasma IgG antibody test. Anti-Toxoplasma IgM antibody test must be ordered together with an anti-Toxoplasma IgG antibody test. 


The manufacturer has not validated the IgM kit for use on neonatal samples

Specimen Required

​3 mL plain blood

Anti-Toxoplasma IgM antibody test MUST be ordered together with anti-Toxoplasma IgG antibody test.

To diagnose acute infection, send an acute serum specimen and a second convalescent serum taken 14 days later.

Test Results

​Test done at serum dilution of 1:10. Reported as Detected, Indeterminate or Not Detected. Acute infection will show IgM positive and ≥ 4 fold rise in IgG.
