H. PYLORI QUIK CHEK™ by TECHLAB, Inc. is a rapid membrane enzyme immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Helicobacter pylori specific antigen in human faecal specimens for the non-invasive detection of H.pylori infection.
In literature, H. PYLORI QUIK CHEK™ assay purports a sensitivity of 91% and specificity of 100% compared to culture, histology and rapid urease test. In our evaluation, we have found an overall 85.1% positive percentage agreement and 100% negative percentage agreement when compared to histology, rapid urease test and urea breath test as reference test methods.
Please send fresh stool (at least one teaspoon or about 10mm3) in a clean leak-proof container with a tight-fitting lid. If it is not possible to despatch the stool sample to the laboratory within the same day, the sample should be kept at 2 – 8oC in the refrigerator for up to 96 hours (4 days). If the sample can only be despatched after 4 days, it should be stored frozen at ≤-10 oC, for up to 14 days.

1. Stool specimens should be sent prior to treatment or more than 4 weeks after completion / discontinuation of therapy involving antimicrobials, proton pump inhibitors and bismuth preparations.
2. Stool in transport media, on swabs, or mixed in urine or preservatives are not appropriate for testing and will be rejected.
3. The laboratory has not evaluated TECHLAB H. PYLORI QUIK CHEK for use in paediatric samples.
