Specimens are collected in a liquid preservative (Thinprep Preservcyt® or Cytolyt® solution). In the Thinprep 2000 processor, the specimen undergoes dispersion and cell are collected on a Thinprep Pap Test filter before a monolayer of cells is tranferred onto a glass slide. The cells are stained with Papanicolaou (PAP) stain and then examined microscopically.
Bronchial brushing aids in the diagnosis and localization of lung tumours and identification of infections.
Rinse and place the brush tip into Thinprep Cytolyt® solution supplied by Cytology Laboratory.
