Implementation of 5 complementary programs with the overarching aim of improving the survival rate and functional outcome of patients at-risk of cardiac and critical care events:
1. National Prehospital Emergency Research Database
Develop a comprehensive national prehospital emergency research database that will integrate information from 995 dispatch center, ambulances and hospital medical records, enabling the development of population emergency triage and risk stratification models, for deployment into clinical tools.
2. Community and Ambulance -based interventions in OHCA
Develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a bundle of community and ambulance based interventions on increasing OHCA survival rates, including mass simplified CPR training, installation of AEDs in residential blocks, a first responder app, a novel CPR card, Impedance Threshold Device, manual defibrillation by intermediate life-support providers, IV amiodarone and high performance team CPR.
3. Data Science and Outcomes Driven Hospital Triage Research
Use SGH's Research Standing Database and Data Science tools to develop and validate triage and early warning/risk stratification tools for acute and elective patients being admitted to SGH
4. Early risk-prediction with wearable sensor networks for patients (ESP)
Utilize a novel wearable sensor system tracking temperature, pulse, respiration and cardiac rhythm wirelessly with Machine Learning capability to enable safe, early step-down care in patients. This has the potential to reduce resource and manpower costs long-term with no reduction in clinical safety.
5. Validation studies using ESP for sepsis, chest pain, post-op patients
Conduct validation studies and clinical trial for risk stratification tools in sepsis, chest pain and pre/post op patients.
