Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance

Antimicrobial resistance is a global public threat that requires action from all government sectors and society. The on-going explosion of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections continues to plague global and Singapore healthcare. Currently, a growing problem of nosocomial antibiotic-resistant bacteria infections had been fuelled by the lack of fewer and new effective antibiotics now or in the next 10 years.

In this presentation "Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance: Antibiotic Combination Therapy - in the Singapore Context", the Speaker will attempt to show what are the common challenges faced at the bedside with extensively drug-resistant bacterial infections, highlight the considerations on appropriate antibiotic combination selection, and discuss a precision medicine approach to arrive at rationally-optimized antibiotic combination chemotherapy regimens tailored to individual clinical scenarios.
