CA in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (Peripheral)

Application Timeline

For overseas applicants:

A full set of required documents to be submitted at least 6 months before the attachment start date.

For local applicants:

A full set of required documents to be submitted at least 3 months before the attachment start date.

Only for organisation sponsored practising / registered Physiotherapists

Note: Each request is subject to Department's review and approval

Objectives

To provide a clinical environment for the training and development of advanced knowledge and clinical skills in orthopaedic physiotherapy for peripheral joints.

The participant will develop advanced skills and understanding in:

  • Assessment, prevention and management of peripheral musculoskeletal conditions involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, hip, knee and ankle and foot encountered in the outpatient
  • Post-surgical conditions such as post-anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, shoulder repairs, knee arthroplasty, etc
  • Assessment, prevention and management of sports injuries
  • Use of biomechanical analysis in the diagnosis and management of sporting injuries
  • Use of taping or orthotics as an adjunct to of injuries
  • Objective data / analysis – including the use of isokinetic dynamometry and electromyography
  • Research activities in orthopaedic physiotherapy

Outline

The specific duration and area of attachment will be individualized to meet the participant’s need. The attachment may also include individual or group discussion session with the mentor, participation in team in-services, and/or opportunity to obverse and interact with other health care professionals. 

Methodology

  • Observation or practical hands-on sessions (depending on Singapore Allied Health Professional Council licensure requirement)
  • Case discussion session
  • Outpatient Musculoskeletal team in-services
  • Inter-disciplinary Trauma rounds
  • On-line reading materials

Attachment Fees

1. Training Fee (5-day work week) depending on the nature of attachment

At least SGD $600* per applicant per week


2. Administrative Fee Upon Acceptance (non-refundable)

Singaporeans: SGD $150* 

Non-Singaporeans & Overseas Applicants: SGD $240* 


3. Miscellaneous Fees for Overseas Applicants (Non-Singaporeans) [non-refundable]

a. Training Employment Pass (TEP)

  • One time application fee: SGD $105
  • Issuance Fee: SGD $225

b. Multiple Journey visa (if applicable): SGD $30
