Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Clinic

The Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Clinic strives to provide ultrasound imaging service to patients to aid the management of a variety of Rheumatological conditions. 

Some of the indications include:  

  • General cases for diagnostic purpose (e.g. synovitis, effusion, enthesopathy, tendinopathy). 

  • Evaluation for subclinical synovitis or erosions for early undifferentiated inflammatory arthritis or established Rheumatoid Arthritis. 

  • Ultrasound-guided joint injection, joint aspiration, or synovial biopsy. 

The clinic is also involved in research activities. 

This service is led by a team of 2 Rheumatologists, Dr Chew Li Ching and Dr Tan York Kiat, who are skilled in performing Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. They have been trained and certified by experienced international training centres. Dr Chew is a member of the Australasian Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine (ASUM) and chairperson of the steering committee Targeted Ultrasound Initiative (TUI), Singapore. Dr Tan is a member of the TUI (Singapore) and is actively engaged in musculoskeletal ultrasound research studies. Both doctors are educators for Musculoskeletal Ultrasound courses regionally.
