Chlamydia trachomatis, Neiserria gonorrhoeae, gonorrhea, gonorrhoea, gonococcus, CT, NG, CTNG
To aid in the diagnosis of chlamydial and gonorrheal urogenital disease, in both symptomatic as well as asymptomatic individuals.
(a) Urine (preferred sample for men): First morning voided urine is best. Alternatively, patient must not urinate within two hours prior to urine collection. Collect the first 15 - 20 mL of voided urine in a plastic, preservative-free sterile container. (b) Endocervical/ vaginal swab: Use only Dacron-tipped swabs. Send in swab sheath without any media. (c) Urethral swab: Use aluminum Dacron-tipped swab. Send swab in swab sheath.
Refrigerate sample until transfer to laboratory. Do not freeze. Send sample at 2 - 8°C (with an ice-pack) and sample must reach the lab within 24 hours after collection.
