ART is a test to screen for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. It involves using a swab stick inserted into your nostrils to obtain a sample to be tested. Results will be available after 15 to 20 minutes.
A swab stick will be inserted into your nostrils to obtain a sample for testing. You may experience a bit of discomfort. The feeling goes away as quickly as the test is done. A result will be available in about 15 to 20 minutes time.
Should your ART result be positive, you will be sent to an isolation room before our colleagues transfer you to our Isolation Ward for further evaluation.
The result for a negative ART is only valid for the day of visit, you will be required to repeat the test again the following day.
You are required to show proof of the last ART done during your visit if ART has been performed outside of SGH. Please plan ahead when to repeat the ART within our ART Centre’s operating hours, from 8:00AM to 6:00PM (last case at 5:30PM) and allow for 15 to 20 minutes waiting time for the ART results.
Yes, you need to be a nominated visitor/caregiver first to qualify for ART. Once registered, you do not have to report to the Visitor Services Counter daily to update your nomination status. Instead, please proceed directly to the ART Centre upon arrival at SGH. After you have received your ART result (negative), you will be provided with an ART sticker. After which, you may proceed to the gantries at the respective blocks that you are visiting.
ART is a precautionary measure to keep our patients and visitors safe. You are still required to undergo ART if you fulfill the visiting criteria and are staying beyond the duration allowed by the patient’s bedside regardless of your vaccination status.
