Preparation for Ultrasound Guided Breast Core Biopsy

As you prepare for your Preparation for Ultrasound Guided Breast Core Biopsy, please take note of the following:

Please refrain from using any powder/perfume/deodorant on your body.
It will be more convenient and comfortable for you to wear a blouse with a skirt or pants instead of a dress when you turn up for your appointment.
Please do not wear any jewellery on your upper body, especially necklaces.
It is not necessary to restrict your food (including medication) or fluid intake.
The procedure will take about 45 – 90 minutes. You will be under observation for 30 minutes – 1 hour post procedure.
Please bring along any previous Mammograms or Breast Ultrasound films/reports done outside SGH that you may have as our radiologist needs them for the purpose of comparison.

On the day of your appointment, please report 15 minutes before your appointment time for registration. Please be punctual. If you are late for more than 30 minutes, we may have to give you a new appointment so that your slot can be made available to other patients.

Should you be admitted to the hospital on the appointment day, please inform the ward staff to contact the Department of Diagnostic Radiology immediately.

For inpatients, the patient will be fetched 30 minutes prior to the appointment time. Ward staff are kindly request to ensure that the patient is available.

Payment for this procedure can be made by cash, NETS, medisave and major Credit Cards.
