“In the past, staff who booked patients’ appointments through the Outpatient Administrative System (OAS) had to go through an average of 24 clicks to complete the search function for an earliest available appointment slot.
To reduce the time taken, our workgroup streamlined the system and created new “Search” functionalities, which allow users to access the date they need with ease and speed. This is just one of the eight enhancements that are being progressively implemented in the system.
This may seem trivial, but the five steps eliminated from the search function have a significant multiplier effect when applied to close to 3.6 million outpatient visits served across our cluster per annum.
By simplifying the work processes, it is a win-win for patients, caregivers and us. With a much more efficient appointment process, it also frees up time for frontline staff to answer any questions patients may have, and allows us to serve more patients.”
