Adult Reconstructive Service

At the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Singapore General Hospital, our Adult Reconstruction Service takes care of individuals with degenerative bone diseases, inflammatory bone diseases, bone injuries or other bone deformities. We provide all our patients with customised, one-on-one treatment and rehabilitation for a smooth, fast recovery.

Our Services

Our customised programmes offer pain-relief solutions for arthritis or impaired function of the joints, paying special attention to joint replacements, osteotomies and joint revision surgeries. Our services comprise of the following:

  • Computer-assisted navigation surgery for joints
  • Minimally invasive surgery for joint replacement
  • Unicompartmental Knee Replacement
  • Joint deformity correction with osteotomies
  • Alternative bearing and hip replacement for the young

  • 1st Mobile bearing total ankle replacement in South East Asia
  • Performed the first computer-navigated knee replacement in South East Asia
  • Performed the first minimally invasive surgery for knee replacement in Asia


  • Performed 1,500 Total Knee Replacement Surgery, accounting for 65% of all total knee replacement surgeries in Singapore (2007)
  • Performed 100 cases of computer-assisted, minimally-invasive surgery unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (2005)

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has also partnered with leading companies in the biomedical industry to develop cutting edge technology and techniques to help individuals suffering from joint pains. With computer assisted surgery, orthopaedic surgeons are able to align patient’s bones and joint implants with a degree of accuracy not possible with the naked eye.
