Prof Hwang Ying Khee William

Associate Professor William Hwang Ying Khee was appointed Medical Director, National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) on 26 November 2017.

A highly respected clinician leader with a strong leadership and professional track record, Associate Professor Hwang has provided stewardship for his multiple leadership portfolios, including Director, SingHealth Transplant; Head, SingHealth Duke-NUS Blood Cancer Centre; Head, Department of Haematology, Singapore General Hospital and Medical Director, Singapore Cord Blood Bank (SCBB).

Widely recognised for his expertise in haematological malignancies, Associate Professor Hwang was formerly President of the World Marrow Donor Association. He is currently the Advisory Committee Member for the Center for International Blood & Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR), Executive Board Member of the Asia Pacific Blood and Marrow Transplantation Group (APBMT) and the Chairman of the Chapter of Haematologists, Singapore.

An established researcher who has garnered over $4 million in research funding, Associate Professor Hwang is also a faculty member of the Cancer and Stem Cell Biology Programme in Duke-NUS where he runs a research lab. He has also published close to a hundred clinical and scientific papers in the field of haematology and oncology as well as two books and several book chapters.

In his new role as Medical Director, NCCS, Associate Professor Hwang will further advance NCCS into a global leading cancer centre, and improve patient care through clinical services, education and research.
