Gender Medicine & Yentle Syndrome

In 2010, the Institute of Medicine in the U.S. declared that being a woman or a man significantly influenced the course of health and disease and should be considered in prevention, diagnosis, and therapy. Thus, a new discipline of medicine called gender medicine was born.

During the last few decades research has disclosed gender differences and gender bias in many fields of medicine. This is not an issue for women only. In fact, this subject is of importance to both men and women, to research and business organisations and to policy makers.
