Objectives

During the attachment to the surgical intensive care unit, participants will gain experience in nursing critically ill patients with surgical problems.

  • Surgical conditions requiring critical care
  • Specific nursing care for critically ill patients with surgical problems
  • Making effective and efficient clinical nursing decisions during this critical period that patients encounter
  • Psychosocial support to patients and their family members
  • Ethical Issues in Critical Care

For Whom

  • Registered nurses with a minimum of 1-year post-registration experience, as well as knowledge and clinical experience in handling ventilators and cardiac monitors
  • Currently working in a surgical intensive care unit
