Medical Intensive Care Nursing

Objectives

Participants will gain experience in nursing critically-ill patients in the medical intensive care unit.

Content

  • Pathophysiology related to medical conditions requiring critical care
  • Use and care of critical care equipment and machine
  • Specific nursing care for critically ill patients with medical conditions
  • Physical and psychosocial support to patients and their family members
  • Overview of the diagnostic investigative procedures

Preferred Participants

  • Registered nurses with at least 3-year post-registration experience and knowledge and clinical exposure to ventilators and cardiac monitors
  • Currently working in the medical intensive care unit
