Research

The Department of Urology is actively pursuing both clinical and translational research, with the aim of furthering ‘bench to bedside’ discoveries that have a direct impact on patient care. With a basic laboratory staffed by a post-doctorate fellow and research technicians, the Department is investigating various aspects of genetics, epigenetic and immunology in prostate, bladder and kidney cancer. There are active collaborations with national scientific institutions at Biopolis, National University of Singapore and the National Cancer Centre Singapore. Further downstream in the research programme, the Department is also leading the way in robotic-assisted procedures and operations, as well as multi-centered clinical trials in various drugs and treatment devices. Complementing these research efforts, the Department has a comprehensive clinical database and tissue bank for all Urological cancers seen and treated at the Department.
