About the course:
This second SGH Breast Pathology Course aims to focus on challenges and pitfalls of preoperative diagnosis of breast conditions using core biopsy and cytology. A hands-on microscopy workshop for individual review of a wide spectrum of cases from our SGH archive will allow participants to appreciate the daily issues confronting surgical pathologists when interpreting breast core biopsies and fine needle aspirates from both screen detected and symptomatic lesions. The workshop integrates friendly consultation and open dialogue with our invited experts.
A series of lectures discussing radiological principles and pathologic approaches to problematic lesions on core biopsy and cytology will be part of the course. Lecture handouts and DVDs of cases will be distributed to participants.

Dr Ian Ellis is Professor of Cancer Pathology at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. He is a Volume Editor of the 4th edition of the World Health Organisation Classification of Tumours of the Breast. A key global opinion leader in breast pathology, Dr Ellis is a much sought after speaker who epitomizes the best in the field. Despite a busy consultation service, he and his research team actively contribute to the expanding knowledge in breast disease. |

Dr Fernando Schmitt is Professor of Pathology at the Medical Faculty of Porto University, Portugal. He is the General Secretary of the International Academy of Cytology. A breast and cytopathologist with vast experience, Dr Schmitt brings along the wisdom of his practice in preoperative diagnosis of breast lesions, complemented by his wide range of published works in this field. |

Dr Gary Tse is Professor of Pathology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and President of the Hong Kong Division of the International Academy of Pathology. A familiar name, his zealous interest in breast and cytopathology has led to numerous contributions to the literature, particularly in various aspects of core biopsy and cytologic diagnoses. |
