Lifestyle Modification Programmes in SGH LIFE Centre:
Therapeutic Fitness Exercise Class:
This is a supervised exercise class led by a Physiotherapist or a Fitness Trainer who will ensure safe and effective techniques during the exercise session. A detailed fitness assessment will be conducted prior to the programme to determine the appropriate exercise intensity and type of exercises. The programme consists of:
- Monthly subscription for supervised gym usage
- Maximum of 20 sessions per month
Patient population: - Patients with other lifestyle conditions who want to improve their fitness levels and engage in lifestyle modification.
Aim: - Improve fitness levels
- Encourage active lifestyle / lifestyle changes
- Improve control of, and prevent complications of co-morbidities (eg. Hypertension, high cholesterol, etc)
Outcome measures: - Fitness Re-assessment (after 1-2 packages)
- Other outcome measures will be individualized based on your medical
condition/s

Osteoporosis Exercise Programme:
This exercise programme is designed for individuals diagnosed with low bone mineral density or patients currently diagnosed with osteoporosis. Weight-bearing and resistance exercises, which have been shown to be beneficial to this population, are specifically included in this exercise programme. The programme consists of:
- Individualised fitness assessment and exercise prescription for osteoporosis
- Monthly subscription for supervised gym usage (if desired)
Elder-cise:
Exercises for the elderly have been shown to be important in maintaining cardiovascular and
muscular fitness, maintain a healthy body weight and overall health profile, thus allowing the
elderly to enjoy the golden years. The Elder-cise aims to provide a safe and conducive
environment for these individuals to exercise effectively and safely to reap the benefits of
exercise and improve their quality of life. The programme comprises of:
- Individualised fitness assessment and exercise prescription for cardiovascular, strength and functional training
- 18 sessions(3 times weekly) or monthly subscription for supervised gym workout (if desired)
Cook Well; Eat Well
Learn to cook from the experts in our healthy cooking demonstrations where our dietician
and chefs will demonstrate how to make whip up a delicious and healthy meal for one and all.
Our dietician and chefs will also share their secrets on how to modify recipes for local delights
that will still retain the “yumminess” but remove the “sinfulness”.
Eat Well; Be Well
These are talks given by our registered dietician who will provide relevant and practical information on the various aspects of healthy eating that empower participants to take charge of their dietary habits.
Dietary Consultations
These individual consultations are most suitable for individuals who would like to get advice and information on how to improve their diet for health by our registered dietician.
Independent Living Skills Training
Independent living skills training sessions are individual occupational therapy session
designed for clients with psychiatric conditions and or any other stress related conditions
Sessions focus on developing skills such as time management and time structuring, leisure
exploration, social skills, assertiveness training, problem solving skills, stress management
techniques, etc. to help them better cope in their lives.
Therapeutic Creative Art Group
Therapeutic Creative Art Group is most suitable for patients to address individual goals that are related to self-expression, social skills, verbal-written expression and leisure exploration using various art mediums. The sessions are conducted in a group setting and patients are encouraged to participate for at least 4 sessions.
Stress Management and relaxation therapy:
Daily stresses in life often lead to health practices that are deleterious to physical and mental health. The stress management and relaxation therapy sessions aim to help participants:
- Identify sources of stress
- Identify signs and symptoms of stress
- Learn practical stress management techniques that can be performed anywhere
- Participate in relaxation therapy activities to reduce stress
