Dear Colleagues,
I am indeed most delighted to be given the opportunity to chair this important scientific meeting. Over the past years, I have participated in this meeting as both a faculty member and a participant. In the process, I have gained valuable knowledge and tips from many esteemed colleagues who have attended this annual meeting.
It is therefore only natural that as the scientific chairman of this event, I hope to bring together a good programme that stimulates both our clinical knowledge and scientific intellect. This will be through a combination of interesting lectures and engaging “hands-on” workshops that will enrich our current knowledge and clinical skills. A holistic and interactive approach has been employed in planning the workshops in which we shall discuss the latest techniques and the management of concurrent conditions or complications. We have also included a video symposium in robotics assisted colorectal surgery, as well as LIFT, both techniques which are new and offer huge potential for growth in the region. Interesting colorectal cases will be also discussed by an expert panel in the Case Conference segments of this meeting, in which our participants will have a good opportunity to gain valuable insights in the management of certain colorectal conditions. Of course, by tradition, the social dinners will provide the best opportunities for both faculty and participants to relax and interact and possibly discuss future collaborations together.
