Teaching Activities

The department is involved in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate doctors and nurses. Fellows from overseas train for periods from 6 months to 2 years in general anaesthesia, subspecialty anaesthesia as well as intensive care medicine.

A comprehensive teaching programme prepares basic and advanced trainees in Anaesthesiology for postgraduate examinations. The department is accredited for training towards both the local (M Med) and Australian and New Zealand Anaesthesiology (FANZCA) examinations.

Other educational activities include journal readings, incident reporting, morbidity and mortality rounds and Grand Ward Rounds in the Surgical Intensive Care. 

Undergraduate Training

 Medical students spend two weeks of their 3-week undergraduate anaesthesiology posting in the department.

Basic Specialty Training

The department is accredited for training of Basic Specialty Trainees (BST) for the local Master of Medicine (M Med) in Anaesthesiology examinations.

Advanced Specialty Training

The department is accredited for training of Registrars for Advanced Specialty Training (AST).
