Nursing training framwork revised (The Business Times, Pg 10, 19 January 2011)

19 Jan 2011

The Singapore Workforce Development Agency has revised the nursing care specialisation track of the Healthcare Support framework (HCS) under Singapore's Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) System. It has appointed Singapore General Hospital (SGH) SingHealth Alice Lee Insitute of Advanced Nursing (Alice Lee IAN) as a Continuing Education and Training Centre.

Through the revised framework, healthcare support workers can be trained to provide direct care to patients and take on responsibilities in technical and administrative areas, which will assist nursing and medical professionals in providing quality health care. Additionally, Alice Lee IAN will also provide career counselling and job matching.

First introduced in 2007, the HCS WSQ framework was introduced to offer training for healthcare support workers at acute hospitals. The revised framework will take effect fully on April 1.
