Clinical & Service Excellence

SGH has 35 difference clinical specialties and a diversified allied health services staffed by professional dedicated doctors and clinicians catering to patients needs. Specialized Centres of Excellence providing one-stop comprehensive services adds on to the holistic care SGH proudly provides its patients.

Education

SGH plays a major role in the training of doctors in Singapore. It is the first teaching hospital in Malaya and Singapore (since 1905). It is also the first nursing school (since 1956) and the first radiography school in Singapore (since 1963). SGH has an ongoing Hospital Management Training programme and there are always plans for new directions.

Research

SGH conducts research involving doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and engineers. SGH is constantly conducting ongoing studies in drug and non-drug trials, clinical research and does annual research publications.

Special Focus: Needy Patients

Every year, our medical social services department sees more than a thousand needy patients who require over $1 million in financial assistance for their medical needs. The SGH Needy Patients Fund is established to provide financial aid to the growing number of patients and their families in dire straits. The fund helps pay for assistive devices like wheelchairs, oxygen ventilators, feeds and medical expenses for patients not eligible for public welfare or Medifund.
