Payment Information

Deposit

Deposit payment is required for admission to Class A and B1 and certain procedures in Class B2+, B2 or C due to withdrawal limit under the Medisave regulations.

Deposit top-up may be requested if patient’s hospital stay is longer than estimated.

Deposit payment may be exempted if patient produces Hospital Identity Card or a Letter of Guarantee from their employer in Singapore.

For Non-resident, a letter of guarantee from a local firm or insurance company or a banker’s guarantee will have to be furnished.

Billing

Upon discharge, you may request for an interim bill. Final hospital bill will take approximately 3-4 weeks to process due to submission to CPF Board / private insurance claims. It will be sent to you later by mail.

You may settle you hospital bills by the follwing ways:

AXS Kiosks
Payment can be made with your ATM card, cash card and credit card at any of the AXS kiosks. For more information, please refer to www.axs.com.sg

SAMs (Self-Service Automated Machines)
Payment can be made with you ATM card at any of the SAMs available throughout Singapore. For more information, please refer to www.singpost.com.sg/sam/index.htm

vPost
Payment can be made online through vPost. To register for this service, please log on to www.vpost.com.sg.

Other Payment Modes
Payment using cheque, cash, NETS, cash card, credit card and credit card via mail order can be made at any of the post offices as well as the following locations:

  • Admissions Office located at Block 5 Level 1
  • Business Office located at Block 4 Level 1

Please telephone 6321 4322 if you need assistance regarding your hospital bills.

For settlement of bills after office hours, please proceed to the Admissions Counter of the Accident & Emergency Department located at Block 1, Level 2. 

Medisave

You can use Medisave to pay your hospital bill as well as that of your immediate family, i.e. your spouse, children, parents or grandparents. If you are using your Medisave for your grandparents, they must be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents.

During admission, you should inform the Admissions staff that you intent to use your Medisave to pay. You should also bring along your NRIC/Passport or your CPF membership card. You will also need to sign a Medisave Authorisation Form authorising the CPF Board to deduct from your Medisave Account to pay for the hospital bill.

Medisave CAN be used for the following:

You may use your Medisave to pay for the hospital bill of non-immediate family members (ie, brother, sister, uncle, aunty, in-laws, niece and nephew), provided that the patient:  

  • Is staying in a B2 or C class ward
  • Is a Singapore Citizen or a Permanent Resident
  • Does not have a Medisave account
  • Has immediate family members who do not have enough Medisave funds and cannot afford to pay for hospital bill
  • Is a dependant of the Medisave account holder

Medisave CANNOT be used for the following:

  • Outpatient consultation fees, tests and investigations (except for approved Chronic Disease Management)
  • Charges for medical reports
  • Expenditure on equipment, devices and appliances such as wheelchairs
  • Private expenditures such as telephone calls, faxes and personal laundry
  • Hospitalisation charges if hospitalisation is less than 8 hours, with the exception of day surgery cases
  • Ambulance fees
  • Rental of sleeper units

Medishield

Medishield is a low-cost medical insurance scheme which helps Medisave account holders and their dependants meet the costs of treatment for serious or prolonged illness.

Medisave account holders who are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents and have not opted out of Medishield will be covered under this scheme. You can check with the staff handling your admission if you are not sure whether you or your dependants are covered. You may also check with the CPF Board.

If you are covered under Medishield at the time of your hospitalisation, you may claim part of your hospital bill from Medishield, subject to the deductible amount applicable. The Hospital will assist to submit claims on behalf of patients to CPF Board.

Medishield will not pay for treatment of pre-existing illnesses for which the patient has received medical treatment during the 12 months before the start of the Medishield cover. Medishield will also not cover certain categories of treatment, eg. congenital anomalies, cosmetic surgery, delivery charges, mental illness and personality disorders.

Private Medical Insurance (PMI)
Private Medical Insurance is a scheme which allows CPF members to use their Medisave savings to buy Medisave-approved Integrated Shield Plans for themselves and their dependants. Dependants refer to a member's parents, spouse, children and grandparents. Premiums can be paid from your Medisave account, with a limit of S$800 per annum per person, or S$1150 for those above 80 years old.

Medifund

Medifund is a financial assistance scheme to help needy Singaporean patients pay for their medical expenses.
It is available to patients seeking admission to lowest class of wards of government and restructured hospitals who cannot afford to pay the charges. If you would like to seek Medifund assistance, please inform the hospital staff, who will then refer you to the Medical Social Worker, who will interview you and assist you with the Medifund application.

Medifund assistance is for patients who are facing financial hardship. It is not an entitlement, and patients have to fulfil certain income criteria before their applications can be approved. The application will be considered by the Hospital Medifund Committee and the amount of help from Medifund will depend on each individual’s circumstances and the patient’s financial background.
