Prof. Wong Wai Keong

Professor Wong Wai Keong is a General Surgeon with special interest in Upper Gastro-intestinal Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery and Therapeutic Endoscopy. In Upper GI Surgery, he specializes in Stomach Cancer and Oesophageal Cancer as well as laparoscopic GI surgery. Prof Wong graduated from Medical Faculty (MBBS), National University of Singapore in 1984. He subsequently obtained his Fellowship in Surgery(FRCS) from Royal College of Edinburgh, UK in 1990 and became a Member of Fellow of Academy of Medicine(FAMS), Singapore in 1996. Prof Wong subsequently went to Japan, England and Hong Kong to undergo training in Upper GI Surgery and Endoscopy.

PROFESSIONAL APPOINTMENTS & COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIPS

Prof Wong is currently the Head of Department of General Surgery, Singapore General Hospital. He is also the Vice Chair for Education of Surgery Academic Clinical Programme in Singhealth. He is the Director of the Basic Surgical Skill Course in the Hospital. In addition he also sits in various committees like Standing Committee for Specialist Training and Examination(Academy of Medicine, Singapore), Outram Campus Emergency Planning Committee, Joint Committee on Specialist Training(JCST) Site Accreditation Team, Clinical Quality Officer etc. He is also examiner for the final MBBS( NUS) examination, Post-graduate examinations( Family Medicine, MRCS and FRCS).
