Singapore's first medical school was established in 1905 at Sepoy Lines, the location of the first General Hospital. 2005 will kickoff a year long celebration of the centennial anniversary of medical education in Singapore. SGH has lined up a series of celebratory events to commemorate this important milestone in Singapore's medical history.

Launch of SGH Museum

The SGH Museum located at the Bowyer Block Clock Tower was officially opened by President S R Nathan on 20 May 2005.

Learn about the milestones in SGH's medical history, our defining moments and medical breakthroughts from the many rare photographs, interesting artefacts and multimedia presentations.

Find out how life in the hospital was like during the war years as well as get a glimpse of life in the medical school in the early years, from our extensive interviews with our pioneering doctors and nurses.

The SGH Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 8pm. It is closed on Monday and Public Holidays. Admission to the Museum is free.  

Medical Footprint in Outram Campus
Join this interesting heritage trail and explore the various important historical landmarks within the Outram Campus. The completed trail covering nine landmarks will take about 1 1/2 hours, so do come prepared.
