The Department of Psychiatry provides the following subspecialty services:
Neuropsychiatry Provides evaluation and treatment for patients with organic brain lesions with psychiatric or psychological consequences
Sleep Disorders The clinic sees patients with insomnia, sleeping pill abuse and dependence, as well as those with circadian rhythm disorders (e.g. shift workers).
Stress and Anxiety Disorders The clinic evaluates and treats psychological stress and anxiety disorders, e.g. panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and social anxiety disorder.
Treatment will include psychotherapy, counselling and pharmacotherapy. The clinic also organises seminars and training for healthcare professionals and members of the public, as well as stress management workshops.
Mood Disorders Clinic The clinic provides evaluation and treatment for all persons with mood disorders. It will perform suicidology assessment in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Treatment consisting of psychotherapy, counselling and pharmacotherapy will be provided.
Eating Disorders The Eating Disorders Clinic specialises in helping individuals suffering from Eating Disorders (Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder).
Psychotherapy Provides psychotherapy (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy) and hypnotherapy for patients with psychological or psychiatric disorders.
Stress Management Provides stress management and lifestyle modification counselling.
Appointments and Referrals Consultation is strictly by appointment only. Referrals are accepted from polyclinics, hospitals, general practitioners, voluntary welfare organisations, schools and colleges and institutions of higher learning. Patients in need of assistance can make a self-referral by calling our Central Appointment Unit. |
