The Department is a recognised undergraduate and postgraduate training centre in Neonatology for doctors and nurses. The department also plays an active role in out-reach and public education programmes related to perinatal and developmental medicine at the community level. It also provides advanced speciality training in Neonatology.

Training for local residents and overseas fellows is available in the Department. The Department has been supporting clinical attachments for foreign medical and nursing staff from China, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and The Philippines, under the various regional and international training programmes. Training programmes will be modified to suit the needs of fellows from various countries.
