Details of Services

The Department of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine provides a complete range of services for newborns, from normal to intensive care of both inborn and outborn infants.

Perinatal Services

  • Preconception and prenatal counselling
  • Care of high-risk pregnancies
  • Intrapartum management

Newborn / Child Health Screening
Provides screening for all inpatients discharged as well as new attendance registered at the outpatient clinics. 

General Paediatric Consultation and Follow-up
Ambulatory care and follow-up is available for children 12 years and below. 

Vaccination Services
Complete range of vaccines is available to provide protection against various avoidable childhood diseases.  

Vaccinations for your child can include:

  • BCG
  • Hepatitis B
  • DTaP/IPV/HiB
  • DTap/IPV/HiB/Hep B
  • MMR
  • Chickenpox
  • Influenza vaccine
  • Pneumococcal vaccine
  • Rotavirus vaccine

Neonatal Follow-up Programme for High-risk Infants
This programme ensures continuing care to high-risk infants and includes the coordination of all activities related to their early intervention and rehabilitation.

Developmental Assessement
Children's development is screened, assessed and tracked at each visit. Children with developmental and behavioural concerns can also be referred for assessment.

Courses for Caregivers/Parents
To prepare couples for parenthood, special courses taught by experienced trainers are designed to equip moms and dads in caring for their new bundle of joy.

Infant Massage Programme
Caregivers will be taught massage skills that enhance the developmental needs of infant and encourage bonding.

Basic Paediatric Resuscitation Course
This course equips parents, especially those with high-risk infants to handle acute emergencies such as choking, at home.

Light-Weight Club (click here for link)
Serves as a parent support group where parents share their experiences and support to one another to cope with the stresses and care for their high-risk infants.
