The Department provides a full range of diagnostic imaging examinations and imaging-guided interventions:
Plain Films
- X-Rays of any part of the body and special views of the head, e.g. sinuses, and temporo-mandibular joints.
Specialised Examinations
- These include intravenous urograms, barium meals and enemas, ultrasound of the abdomen, pelvis, carotid and peripheral arteries and veins, anthrography, myelograms and CTs and MRIs.
- SCAN CVI (Singhealth Centre for Advanced Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging) is located in the department and consists of state-of-the-art CT and MR scanners for advanced cardiovascular imaging including coronary CT angiography.
Invasive Examinations
- These include angiography of the brain, spinal cord, abdominal organs and peripheral vessels.
- Interventional procedures include biopsies, abscess drainage, biliary and urinary drainage, embolisations, angioplasties and stenting. Musculoskeletal interventional procedures include facet nerve root blocks, facet joint injections and vertebroplasty.
- Radiofrequency ablation, endovenous laser therapy and aortic stent-graft insertion are advanced techniques that are available.
Satellite Services
- The department operates five satellite services at the Ang Mo Kio Hospital, Geylang Polyclinic, Pasir Ris Polyclinic, Sengkang Polyclinic and Tampines Polyclinic.
