The Division of Research was established in 2001, incorporating and expanding the role of the former Research Committee. It is the central body coordinating the myriad of research activities within the Hospital to ensure a concerted effort in sync with the national emphasis on life science research.

The Division comprises 2 Departments and is under the purview of a Chairman who is supported by the Research Secretariat.

Mission

The mission of our Division is the promotion of growth in SGH by extending its core services beyond basic patient care in order to harness synergy from related activities in delivering quality, appropriate and affordable healthcare to the public.

Goals & Objectives

• Pursue a focused, coordinated and integrated research program in basic and applied medical research dedicated to generating new knowledge and improving human health
• Reorganize and focus research activities into disease-based thematic areas
• Maintain a strong commitment to research excellence
• Establish new networks and strategic partnerships proactively
• Reach out to establish mutually beneficial collaborations with other institutions/organizations, both nationally and internationally
