About the Job
Occupational Therapy is a health care profession concerned with people of all ages whose everyday life has been affected by physical, cognitive, and/or mental health problems. Occupational Therapists use purposeful activities and a variety of treatment methods to obtain a desired level of functioning in work, self-care, play and leisure.

The SGH Occupational Therapy Department has been a provider of rehabilitation services since 1954. Our dynamic approach to rehabilitation reflects the changing needs of our society over time. It is now one of the largest occupational therapy department in Singapore.

Entry Qualifications
To qualify as an Occupational Therapist, you must go through formal training.
Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) offers a 3-year Diploma in Occupational Therapy course, which can be upgraded to a degree in overseas universities. The diploma course is accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.

GCE A-level science students are eligible to apply for the Diploma in Occupational Therapy course with the NYP.

Scholarship
Singapore General Hospital offers scholarships to students taking the Diploma in Occupational Therapy course at NYP.

A monthly allowance will be given for the period of study:

Year 1
Year 2
Year 3
$900 per month
$950 per month
$1000 per month

Upon successful completion of the course, you will join SGH as an Occupational Therapist and serve the Hospital for 3 years.

Application for the diploma course can be made to NYP through the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) or Joint-Polytechnic Admissions Exercise (JPAE). You may refer to the NYP web site at http://www.nyp.edu.sg or call Hotline : 65501300.
