The Hospital invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the local scholarships to study the following courses. These courses will be conducted at the Nanyang Polytechnic:
Students will be trained to be professional nurses who are expected to assess, manage and prevent problems related to health in everyday life. To do this, the nurse must have a good understanding of human biology and behaviour, and be equipped with problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Upon completion of the 3-year course, graduates can register with the Singapore Nursing Board.
A qualified nurse is involved in health education, administration of prescribed treatment, provision of psychological support, and co-ordination of professional and technical services.
Students will be trained by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) which offers a 2-year National ITE Certificate in Nursing (NCN) course for GCE "N" and "O"-level science students.
Upon graduation, you will be enrolled with the Singapore Nursing Board and obtain the license to practise as an Enrolled Nurse.
An Enrolled Nurse looks after the sick, the injured and the disabled. The range of his/her duties include assisting patients who are unable to look after themselves, assessing/monitoring their conditions, carrying out medical and nursing treatments, and keeping records of such treatments.
Radiography is the diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury using X-rays and non-ionizing radiation.
The Diagnostic Radiography student will be trained to safely and competently handle patients and radiation systems for health care. They will also be taught to produce high quality medical images for the diagnosis of diseases.
There is a current shortage of Diagnostic Radiographers in Singapore and many other countries.
The full-time 3-year course aims to provide students with sound knowledge of both the theoretical and clinical aspects of physiotherapy.
A Physiotherapist treats a wide range of disabilities resulting from disease, injury and sports. She assesses and educates the patients, and implements individually tailored programs of treatment for maximum recovery, early restoration and promotion of health. Patients from all ages can benefit from the input and intervention of Physiotherapists.
Students will be taught the behavioural and biological sciences. They will learn how to plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy programs in a wide variety of health care settings.
A qualified occupational therapist works with people who have difficulties in leading normal and independent lifestyles due to old age, physical injuries, emotional disorders or developmental disabilities. She assesses, restores and retrains the physical, mental and social abilities of people.
The World Federation of Occupational Therapists has accredited this course.
