SGH-Postgraduate Allied Health Institute (PGAHI) had its beginnings in 2003, as an Institute, offering an educational platform for a spectrum of healthcare training programmes for the allied health professionals both locally and regionally.
Since its conception, PGAHI has collaborated with SGH allied health departments and other reputable universities and organizations to offer workshops, certification courses, clinical attachments and post-graduate programme to the community, locally and beyond. To date, the Institute has offered more than 2,000 training places in over 200 different professional skills development courses and clinical attachments. PGAHI also received strong satisfaction rating of more than 95% from our participants, mirroring the commitment that PGAHI has in delivering high quality training to our healthcare professionals. The PGAHI has to date more than 8 MOUs with Universities in Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
2007 marked a milestone for PGAHI as five Cambodians became the first to receive the ‘Advanced Clinical Diploma in Physiotherapy Practice’ awarded by PGAHI at the Inaugural Graduation Ceremony. This programme was launched in May 2007 as a forerunner of PGAHI’s certification courses. The structured programme for the Cambodian Physiotherapists is the first for both countries and in Asia.
Moving forward, 2008 is poised to be an awesome year for PGAHI as we celebrate our 5th Anniversary. PGAHI will also endeavor to develop new training programmes, keeping in trend with the evolving allied health professionalism. For a start, PGAHI has an expanded our categories of training programme to offer ‘Research and Evidence Based Healthcare’ as well as monthly continuing professional education for allied health professionals to meet the changing market needs.
May the PGAHI website serves as a springboard for all allied health professionals in Singapore and beyond, to spur an enduring interest amongst healthcare professionals, to advance their clinical knowledge and skills in order to provide excellent quality and standard of patient care. |
