The Department of Surgical Intensive Care located at Block 2 Level 2 provides optimal, individualised, continuous intensive monitoring and treatment to the adult surgical patients, who require ventilatory and inotropic support on a 24 hours' basis. It also provides intensive nursing care to trauma patients with multiple injuries and / or chest injuries, and patients in septic shock.
The Department is managed by a team of qualified anaesthetist/intensivist and critical care trained nurses round the clock. With the philosophy of the patient's welfare and their families as their utmost concern, the patient is cared holistically encompassing his physical, emotional, personal, cultural, social, spiritual and rehabilitation needs.
To maintain the efficiency and to uphold the nursing standards, nurses have been attending the continuing educational programmes conducted by the Department. These programmes help to develop their knowledge, skills, decisions-making and effective coping skills to manage clinical problems.
