Attachment Programme in Burns Nursing

Objectives
Participants will undergo the attachment programme at the burns ward, which is also the regional referral centre for thermal injuries. They will gain experience in managing patients with a variety of thermal injuries.

  • Classification of burn
  • Assessment of burn
  • Provision of specific care including nutritional support, infection control, burns wound management, psychosocial support, pain management and discharge advice
  • Burns resuscitation regime
  • Procedures for managing a major catastrophe involving thermal injuries
  • Nursing management of a burns ward

For Whom
Registered nurses with clinical experience in nursing patients with thermal injuries
Currently working in a burns ward or unit
