Attachment Programme in Operating Theatre Nursing
(Laparoscopic/Endoscopic Procedures)

Objectives
In this attachment, participants will gain knowledge of the techniques and trends in theatre nursing skills for laparoscopic/endoscopic procedures in general surgery and orthopaedic surgery.

Content

  • Requirements for setting up laparoscopic/endoscopic procedures for general and orthopaedic surgery
  • Nurse's role in preparation, use and maintenance of laparoscopic/endoscopic equipment and instrumentation
  • Observation of nursing skills and techniques in laparoscopic/endoscopic procedures
  • Patient safety, prevention of hazards and post-operative care for patients requiring laparoscopic/endoscopic surgery

For Whom

  • Registered nurses with a minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience
  • Currently working in the operating theatre
