Attachment Programme in Operating Theatre Nursing
(Anaesthesia and Recovery Room)

Objectives
Participants will gain an insight into up-to-date techniques and nursing skills for managing patients undergoing anaesthesia and post-operative recovery.

  • Types of anaesthesia services
  • Pharmacological aspects of anaesthetic agents in induction and reversal procedures
  • Nurse's role in assisting with anaesthetic procedures
  • Use and maintenance of anaesthetic equipment and machines
  • Nurse's role in maintaining patient safety, preventing hazards and managing emergencies and complications during anaesthesia and recovery
  • Post-operative nursing management of patients in the recovery room

For Whom

  • Registered nurses with a minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience
  • Currently working in the operating theatres
