Attachment Programme in Advanced Nursing Specialty
(Head and Neck)

Objectives
Participants will gain in-depth knowledge in managing patients with head and neck surgery.

Content

  • Pathophysiology related to head and neck cancers and injuries
  • Management of patients with head and neck cancers (including radiation therapy) and injuries
  • Pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Nurse's role in pre-operative and post-operative counselling, discharge planning and post-discharge support (include support groups)
  • Physiotherapy, speech and swallowing therapy
  • Field visit to outpatient clinic and head and neck cancer trial clinic

For Whom

  • Registered nurses with at least 2 years of post-registration experience
  • Currently working in a surgical ward
